My research investigates the genomic and biochemical mechanisms underlying adaptation to extreme environmental stressors, with a focus on hypoxia. By linking genetic variation, epigenetic regulation, and molecular interactions to whole-organism physiology, my group works at the interface of biology and chemistry to understand how regulatory elements shape adaptive responses. Because hypoxia is both an environmental challenge and a driver of human disease, this work provides an interdisciplinary framework for connecting evolutionary biology with biomedical questions.
